Well... I´m done with Christmas in Nashville and decided...why not?? Antarctica looks like fun. So here I am the day after Christmas driving to the Atlanta airport to catch a flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Needless to say, the twelve hour plane ride gave me plenty of time to think, read, listen to music, watch movies, sleep, etc. The solitude was a nice break from the crazy competition of the Lee household during break...but I was homesick before the clock stuck midnight. The in flight films let me catch up on pop culture that I have missed while taking the 22 hours of class this fall. The girl sitting next to me was an exchange student, headed back to BA from America, she had spent an entire year studying in Maryville TN, so she was glad to hear that I was from Nashville.
The plane landed in BA and our ragtag bunch of students convened to find that we had a 7 hour layover. Lots of get to know you time. There are 6 students from UGA, including myself. Two boys and 4 girls. One girl is from Kalamazoo College in Michigan, one girl from St. Mary´s in Maryland, one boy from Oregon State, one girl from the Univeristy of Washington, and sadly enough we let one gator girl from FL join us. (yes John, I already covered the Tebow/ CelebraSHOWN topic with her). The group dynamics are great and I think that we will have a great time!! Some of the girls are really cool and laid back...I´m excited to get to know them!!
Now Usuhaia...what a quaint little town. A population of only 65,000 keeps it small and very cute. The Andes rise over like watchdog-eyed big brothers to protect the city from the sea. To picture th mountains imagine the forest with huge rock surfaces jutting up through. The timberline separates the green below from the arid then snowy peaks of each of these montrous landmarks. Each peak scrapes the sky and looks beautiful with the evening light shining on it. We went to eat dinner around 9pm, but the sun did not fully go down until about 11pm...that will throw the sleep schedule off a bit. The city has no traffic signals...nice for pedestrians...ha. My broken Spanish has held up enough to get me through the airports, shops, and hotel...we´ll see as the trip continues. Yeah Marlee...scary that the group may be relying on MY language skills :-)
I hope that everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and I know that you are all enjoying your holiday. I will post as often as possible, and add pictures too!! I love you and miss you all. Be safe, and enjoy the Bowl games...I´m jealous that ya´ll get to watch them! I love you all!!
